Art tour season

Art studio tours offer the public an extraordinary opportunity to meet local artists in their working environments, learn more about their creative processes and discuss what inspired their work. In addition to demonstrating their works, artists sell their art during these events.

In the past weeks, I've been fortunate to visit three art tours. Every time I attend one, I’m curious about what’s on the walls, tucked away in corners or in boxes.

The first one I attended was the Orleans Art Studio tour that was founded nine years ago. It was a great pleasure to visit the studios of a number of great artist friends.  The tour promotes some high quality art.  I have been attending this tour for a number of years.

Then a few weeks ago, when my husband and I were in the Adirondacks near Lake Placid, we happened to arrive just in time for the
Saranac Lake Art Walk. For the past 10 years, Saranac Lake holds Art Walks every 3rd Thursday of the month from June through September. Artists set up displays and/or demonstrate at various downtown merchants. Live musicians performed at many of the gallery locations. It was an enjoyable evening. Many of the galleries exhibited watercolours which was a bonus. I didn't know about this event until we arrived and it was a pleasant surprise.

Jamais deux sans trois.

During the past week, we were visiting the Eastern Township area in Québec and there happened to be another art tour. This was the largest tour, with 36 artists, that I had ever seen  so far and the quality of the art was wonderful. There were great paintings, pottery, sculptures, etc. The tour was also extremely well attended.

Here is my latest painting. It was inspired from a recent photo taken on one of the many trails in the Adirondacks.  Here is a near final version painted as one painting:

Here is the final state. It has been cut up to fit in this old window frame.

This painting will be on display at the Art on the Farm show in the Arboretum of the Central Experimental farm in Ottawa on Saturday, August 15, 2015, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. If it rains on that date, the art show will be held on Sunday August 16, 2015.

Have a great week,
Danielle
