Tradition of flowers and Mother's Day

With Mother’s Day, it’s time to think flowers.

Apparently carnations, with their fluffy and frilled petals, delicate fragrance and long, simple leaves were the original Mother’s Day flower.

Roses are also associated  with Mother's Day. Roses are deeply steeped in tradition, myth and legend. They are considered a special celebration flower, and perhaps because they are so elegant, fragrant and luxurious.

Tulips are increasing in popularity for Mother's Day due to their elegance and grace. They are also traditionally seen as the floral herald of Spring. Therefore, they are particularly appropriate for new mothers. To express warmth and affection, opt for pink tulips and you’ll have a gorgeous gift any mom will adore.

In honour of all mothers, here is a collection of my recent paintings of flowers.

Unfortunately, I was feeling out of sort this weekend and did not paint. I don't recall the last time I didn't paint during a weekend ;-(

Have  great week,
Danielle
