Review: Abstract - Art of design

Recently, someone at work recommended that I watch a series on Netflix entitled Abstract: The Art of Design to help a certain group of employees think outside the box and come up with innovative ideas. This series which was launched in February 2017 contains the following eight 40-minute documentaries.
  1. Christoph Niemann: Illustration
  2. Tinker Hatfield: Footwear Design for Nike
  3. Es Devlin: Stage Design
  4. Bjarke Ingels: Architecture
  5. Ralph Gilles: Automotive Design
  6. Paula Scher: Graphic Design
  7. Platon: Photography
  8. Ilse Crawford: Interior Design
Because I'm an artist, I enjoyed each show that showcases leading designers. However from a practical side for work the show does not focus on how these designers address problem solving and come up with innovative ideas. Nevertheless, the show is captivating. The first episode starts with Christoph Niemann, an illustrator formerly based in New York and now working in Berlin. I was also very impressed by how Platon, the Greek photographer, takes the time to know his subjects in order to produced some of the most iconic portraits of the past twenty years.

I was very captivated by this show and recommend it to anyone.

My latest painting of strawberries, bees and monarch caterpillar is at a stage that I need to let it sit for a few weeks to see what needs to be tweaked. Here it is:
Danielle Beaulieu watercolour strawberries
This painting required many hours of painting.

Have a great week,
Danielle
