Taking photos at art show

This weekend I'm at the Navan Fine Arts Exhibit. It appears that more and more people don't hesitate to take photos of paintings on display. They do not think that there may be issues of copyright in using the photos for certain purposes.

Some people have asked permission before taking a photo because they want to think a bit before purchasing the artwork. I suspect that other people do not understand that what they are doing is wrong.

I've already had somebody copy my artwork and publishing it on Facebook as their own. Therefore, I feel uneasy with this topic. Some artists may interpret the act of taking photos as a compliment.

Having said this, many of us have art work up on a website somewhere, and if someone is really out to copy, then it's even easier there, so a photo at an art fair is really a moot point.

Here is a new painting that is almost finished for the upcoming Tulip Festival.
