Continuous learning

Embarking on watercolours can mean a serious course of study. Acquiring highly refined skills requires time and discipline. Like many crafts, we must abandon any romantic thoughts of effortlessly and joyously expressing our creative vision. Painting can be hard work, at least in the first years.  I call this hard work "fun".

I’ve dedicated this long weekend to watching online videos on watercolours to pick up new techniques. Two techniques that I practiced in today’s Easter themed painting are:
  • Varying directions of strokes; and
  • Using a brush with stiff bristle soften the edges.

If anyone is interested, Artists Network University is providing free access to their online videos this weekend.
Happy Easter to all
