Next Saturday August 11th from 10am to 4pm (rain date Sun Aug 12), the Friends of the Central Experimentation Farm are holding their annual "Art on the Farm" event (free admission). I'm pleased to be participating in this event that is held in a natural setting of the Arboretum at the Central Experimental Farm.
This special summer event showcases local and regional artists displaying and selling their original artwork.
New this year: a Tea Room from 10:30 am to 3:00 pm, Building 72. The perfect place, after browsing the Art on the Farm show, to sip a cup of tea and chat with friends over home-made scones, cookies and tarts. $10 per person Baked goods may also be purchased
This is the event I bring the most amount paintings to. There will be paintings on many different topics (florals, landscapes, still life).
In the past weeks, I've been painting a few scenes from my recent trip to Banff and Jasper. A couple of these watercolours are framed in old window frames that have recently been re-furbished.
Here is one of those paintings before I cut it up to put in the frame. Although there was no fireweed when we visited, I thought it would be interesting to add them.
Here is the painting in a gorgeous old wooden window. The colours of the painting aren't great in the pic as it is challenging to take photos with an old glass in front.
Here is another scene that I frame in a simpler old window (window not shown)
Have a great week and maybe I'll see you next Saturday.
Danielle
